Aussies Lleyton Hewitt and James Duckworth will open their US Open campaigns against a pair of Americans on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows.
Hewitt, the champion in New York in 2001, takes on sentimental favourite Brian Baker, while in a battle of the wildcards, Duckworth faces Tim Smyczek, the world No.109.
Hewitt and Duckworth will be aiming to join compatriot Bernard Tomic in the second round.
After a forgettable day for the Aussie women on Day 2, promising teen Ash Barty will hope to restore some glory when she takes on 32nd seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
> Stosur stunned by Duval in New York
> Dellacqua still motivated despite Open loss
Barty lost heavily when the pair last met in Kuala Lumpur in February, but has grown in experience and confidence since that time while the Russian has gone just 5-7 since May.
Several Aussies, including Barty, John Peers, Marinko Matosevic and Anastasia Rodionova, will also take to the courts on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows in doubles action.
