This is an entirely ‘home grown’ team with all the girls joining as members of the Club at very early ages.
APTC’s Club Professional Ian Ketteringham, along with his coaching team, has nurtured all the girls along the player pathway of junior pennant and tournament competition.
In particular, Jasmine Carswell at 14 years and the team’s captain, has gained significant experience and success at singles and doubles in 2013, being the winner at the following tournaments:
– Goldfields Financial Solutions State Hardcourts – OJT
– Gold Style Homes Hensman Park Junior
– South Perth Junior Open
By virtue of her high Australian tennis ranking, Jasmine also participated at the recent 12s and 14s Spring Nationals held in Sydney.
Also in 2013-14, the Club is very proud to celebrate the “Year of the Female @ APTC”, with the intent being to encourage greater female participation at tennis and Club socials.
The Club’s initiatives include:
- the “Pink Ribbon Tea and Try Tennis Open Day” held in October
- regular Sunday Social Tennis sessions
- more females entered in to Tennis West pennant competition
- the creation of a new Ladies Club Captain role
- 2 for 1 membership offer for women new to the Club.
