Charleen Tiwari and Megan Kaufmann

Joe McCarthy, Head coach of Global Tennis at Wembley Downs Tennis Club, will be attending the girl’s 16 and under nationals with a team of 6 players. The players are Megan Kaufmann, Ivana Vojinovic, Olivia Rimmer, Isaleyarna Bailey, Meg Connell and Charleen Tiwari. With all six girls in the 16 and under draw this is the highest representation of any club in Australia.

“This is a result of the hard work of both the players and coaches. We have been planning for this event for the last 6 months and all the players have worked exceptionally hard in order to prepare themselves”. Explains Joe McCarthy.

All members are part of the Global Tennis  High Performance programme and have recently competed in Tasmania and South Australia.

“Giving the athletes the opportunity of travelling interstate and abroad to play against the very best is a vital step in there development”.

Megan Kauffman has gained an acceptance directly into the main draw which McCarthy explains is a result of Megan’s work ethic.

“Megan is an example to all our players that by putting in the hours on the court in a planned and intense environment will pay off eventually. Megan has played some great matches recently and is fully deserving of her spot in the main draw.”

Global Tennis is also represented in the 14’s teams’ event as well as 18’s nationals with Scott Webster gaining acceptance into the doubles. Scott has recently made some significant improvements in his game as he strives for acceptance into a top US college.

We wish all our players the best of luck over the next 4 weeks of tennis at the December Showdown.
