Brixton Tennis located in Mills Park in Beckenham is a small club that specialises in training aspiring young tennis players.

Head Coaches Tate and John Roberts are both recognised by Tennis Australia as two of only a handful of ‘Talent Development Coaches’ in Australia. John and Tate met the TDC criteria by having over 20 players meet eligibility for National competition over the last few years and by coaching the WA representative to the 10 and under National Talent Development Camp for three consecutive years.

Tate and John have extensive experience training developing players and have helped many players go from beginner to achieving high junior rankings, selection for national events and representation in state teams.

Brixton Tennis currently boasts 14 players with a top 10 WA ranking; 10 of whom have a top 5 WA ranking, in their respective birth year.

 “We are lucky to have some very dedicated players whose parents support both the children and our program.  We see many of the kids 3, 4 or 5 times a week and we send many of them to additional training at the State Tennis Centre. Our typical student is training 5 days a week. We really love helping the kids and watching them grow in this sport. We feel very fortunate that we have continuously been able to assemble great groups of kids. This has enabled us to create an environment where they can develop and thrive”. Explains John Roberts.

In addition to training players we have seen four of our students successfully complete the Tennis Australia Junior Development Coaching course and we have a 5^th in progress. These young adults have earned a meaningful qualification and some income from tennis while still in high school.
