This year on August 16 – 24th, the State Schoolboys and Schoolgirls Championships (known as the Bruce Cup) will be held in Darwin. The team consists of 7 boys and 7 girls and is only open to WA students turning 12 in the year of the championship – for this year it will be players with a 2002 birthdate. The championships are usually held in October, but due to the weather in Darwin it has been bought forward to August.
Trials will be held at the State Tennis Centre on Saturday May 17 at 10:00am. Players may be required to come back on Sunday May 18th. We do realise that some players will be involved in pennant fixtures on Sunday morning but would ask them to return to the State Tennis Centre at the completion of their matches.
In regards to selection criteria, tournament results and pennant results from the past 8 months will be taken into account by the panel of selectors. Refer to School Sport WA web site for selection criteria details.
