In line with Tennis West’s Vision of “Growing Great Clubs”, the staff are committed to enabling vibrant, viable clubs by providing management practices, community activations and resources that activate clubs. Here are some practical examples of how Tennis West departments are enacting this vision:
- Tournaments & Competition – A State League/ATL Forum was recently held. Over 400 stakeholders were invited, with 20 participating. The Tournaments team also delivered new tournament software licenses to over 60 clubs, and assisted with education and technical issues.
- Community Tennis – in February, the Community Tennis Team visited 3 clubs and schools in the Great Southern Zone to conduct the MLC Tennis Hot Shots in Schools program. A total of 335 students were given the opportunity to participate in the Hot Shots Program. An Introduction to Tennis Hot Shots Coaching Course was also held at the Katanning Tennis Club, with a total of 9 participants enrolled to learn the fundamentals of grassroots coaching.
- Places to Play – The Places to Play team have recently assisted a metropolitan club with an application for council funding. They have also provided information and assistance on surface choice to two metropolitan clubs.
Regionally, the team have provided a starting point and letter of support to Council for a new regional tennis facility. - Athlete Development – The National Academy Coach is working closely with club coaches to assist them with their squad training sessions.
- Talent Development – The Coach Development Manager is actively working with Talent Development Coaches to help produce and nurture talent.
