Ensuring coaches have the right development opportunities and support to professionalise and grow their business is essential if the coaching market is to grow and if coaching is to be seen as a popular career option. This will lead to a growth in the coaching market and an increase in the opportunities people of all ages and abilities have to access quality coaching. This is essential to improving the experience of players, keep people in tennis, will help build & promote successful tennis clubs and ultimately grow the sport.
This month coaches had the opportunity to attend the WA coaches workshop at Burswood on the 7th April 2012. There was a great line up of speakers including Gary Stickler (Pat Rafters previous coach), Lyn Foreman (international hurdler), David Phillips (Head of Professional Development for Tennis Australia) and Len Cannell (National Academy Strength & Conditioning coach).
Coaches were thrilled with the line-up of speakers and coaches had some great “take away” messages resulting in coaches leaving the workshop with new goals and aspirations for themselves and their businesses. It was great to see the workshop supported by many coaching assistants and apprentices.
