“Bridgetown Easter Tournament has had a long tradition of providing a great tennis and social experience at the end of the tennis season. The weather in Bridgetown at Easter is always beautiful with lovely cool nights and sunny days. The events are designed to cater for the whole family. All doubles events are round robin events with graded divisions to give everyone a chance to win. The tournament regularly has players in their seventies and eighties participating, and players as young as nine or ten years old competing together.Troy Hargreaves and Monique Barry were the Division 1 Mens and Ladies singles winners respectively, while Sam Galati was a galant runner up in the men’s singles and won the 18 and Under singles. Sam and Monique will certainly be players to keep a close eye on in the future.
“Plenty of wholesome country food round out the package with the home made Mulberry Pies always proving very popular! Quite a number of regular participants have been coming for more than twenty years, and this year we had at least six former single champions attending and playing hard social tennis. I think the club must be doing something right!” – Chris Shedley – President of Bridgetown Tennis Club
