On Sunday 4th May Scarborough Tennis Club celebrated the official opening of six newly resurfaced Plexicushion courts.

Scarborough joins Sorrento, Reabold and Dalkeith as one of only four Western Australian venues to offer the Plexicushion surface at club level. Plexicushion is the surface of the Australian Open and Australian Open Series events, including the Hopman Cup.

Scarborough Tennis Club is excited to be able to provide its members with two world-class competition surfaces, in Plexicushion and natural grass. The club hopes that the upgraded court surface will assist in attracting new members and developing junior players. Furthermore, the new courts will be cheaper and easier to maintain than the previous synthetic turf surface.

The project was jointly funded by the club, the City of Stirling, the Department of Sport and Recreation and Tennis Australia, and was a great way to mark the club’s 50th Anniversary.
