Claremont Lawn Tennis Club is looking forward to welcoming more local senior and junior members now that it has four new hard courts.
The Club has converted four of its grass courts to acrylic hard courts under lights which will allow the Club to offer more opportunities to play tennis during the evenings and the winter months as well as more pennant and competition events. It is also hoped that there will be more coaching opportunities.
The new surface means the Club will also save water and reduce its fertiliser use.
The project was made possible thanks to the help from Claremont Town Council and the Department of Sport and Recreation along with fundraising on the part of the membership.
Claremont Mayor Jock Barker and Curtin MP Julie Bishop were at the hard courts recent official opening along with Council Staff, Life Members, past Presidents and current junior and senior members.
