Sorrento Tennis Club recently hosted the second tournament of the 2014 Medibank Junior Development Series on the weekend of 30/31 August 2014. Of the record 90 players who entered the tournament, 36 were in the 10/U singles and 34 were in the 12/U singles events indicating the growing popularity of tennis in the younger age groups.

After an initial delay in starting due to rain, the tournament ran smoothly under the supervision of Referee Jill Sheridan and the match format was shortened to allow all the scheduled Saturday matches to be completed. All the players who participated are to be complimented for their good sportsmanship and friendly attitude during the tournament.
One of the highlights of the tournament was Boys 10/U Singles final that was won in a tightly contested match by Jake McKenna of Greenwood Tennis Club, who defeated Ignacio Saettone of Reabold Tennis Club 4-2, 4-3(1). Congratulations to the two Sorrento Tennis Club players Ella Hunt (G12/U) and Quinn Krauskopf (B16/U) who won their singles finals and to all the other winners and players who participated.
