16 September 2014 | Tennis West
On Friday 5th September, the annual Women in Tennis Summer Parade was held at the State Tennis Centre, Burswood. This event attracted a large crowd in support of West Australian’s promising young female tennis players. Two of WA’s top juniors, Maddison Inglis and Meg Connell, helped showcase some of the latest sporting and fashion clothing at the parade.
Maddison is one of Australia’s top junior tennis players. In December last year she won the 18/U girls national championship that earned her direct entrance into the Australian Open Wildcard Play-off and the Australian Open Women’s Qualifying draw. She then went on to represent Australia as a member of the Junior Fed Cup Team in Kuching, Malaysia and currently holds a world junior ranking of #124.
Meg is a leading Western Australian Junior. She has won the 16/U WA State Open Age in both singles and doubles in 2013 and 2014. She was also a recent member of the winning Brickmakers State League Team for City Beach in 2013/14 and was a finalist in the Brickmakers State League Most Valuable Player award.
Supporting the parade were National Academy and State Squad coaches Andrew Roberts, Len Cannell, and Callum Ross who gave up their time to showcase some fine menswear clothing. A big thanks goes to the Women’s in Tennis Committee for organising and coordinating such a successful event, Tennis West for their continued support in providing women in Western Australia with the best opportunities, and all the sponsors who supported the summer parade. All funds raised from the parade will go directly towards junior girls’ development. For more information or for donations please visit www.tennis.com.au/wit.
