It is with great pleasure that Tennis West announces Mr Geoff Quinlan’s appointment as the new CEO, Tennis West & General Manager, Hopman Cup. Geoff is the successful candidate from what was a very high calibre field of State and National administrators from tennis, other sports and non-sporting backgrounds.
Having joined Tennis in 2007 as the Athlete Development Manager, Geoff has managed Tennis Australia’s Coach Development team since 2011. His extensive knowledge of tennis administration, coaching and national and state operations sees him well-equipped to take on the dual roles.
As the CEO of Tennis West, Geoff will be responsible for advancing the interests of tennis throughout Western Australia. This will include leadership of our committed team of employees. He will work closely with the Board to develop and implement the strategic plan whilst shaping a culture of high performance to deliver community tennis programs, coach and athlete development, competitions, and commercial operations.
Geoff will also act as the General Manager of the Hopman Cup and, working closely with the Tournament Director, will be responsible for the commercial and operational success of the tournament. This will include the growth, management and delivery of the event.
He will have a dual report into the Tennis West Board as well as to Tom Larner, Director Events & Facilities, Tennis Australia.
Geoff will relocate to Perth from Melbourne in December to start in the role in January 2015.
Current CEO, Mr Michael Robertson, has kindly agreed to assist with the transition process and will remain in Perth until at least the middle of January. The Tennis West Board would like to formally thank Michael for all that he has achieved for tennis in the West this past three years or so and wish him all the best for his future endeavours, especially in his upcoming role as Leader, Project Talent with Tennis Australia.
