WA players Derek Pham, Zach Viiala, Henry Hanlin & Josh Blundell-Williams traveled with Coach John Thorpe from MastaStroke Tennis System at the Dalkeith Tennis Club to the Australian Open on week two to compete in the National Super 10s competition. The team had an amazing experience with some good wins and an extremely narrow defeat to Queensland & Northern Territory by only one game. The Boys were tied on games with Victoria in the final match of the week.
The players were fortunate as they were rewarded with tickets to watch the women’s final with coach and TA mentor Ian Barclay. He spoke and encouraged the players with his words of wisdom. Ian has coached many top professional players including Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash and has been working with the nations developing juniors for many years now. The players are inspired to continue with their development and to become better athletes here in WA in 2015.
