Tennis West staged the Finals of the 2015 SunSmart Country Schools Tennis Classic on a picture perfect day at Nollamara Tennis Club. After battling it out against the other 100 teams and near 400 other students in the country play-offs, 21 teams were lucky enough to progress through to the Perth Finals.
Funding generously provided by the D’Arcy Slater Foundation, allowed schools from all over WA, the opportunity to travel to Perth to compete in the finals. Those in attendance were treated to an entertaining and fiercely competitive day of tennis, with students as young as 10 years old enjoying getting out on court and playing for their school.
The SunSmart Show Court witnessed a variety of entertaining matches throughout the day, and also set the scene for the presentations ceremony. There were some strong performances by schools, in particular Great Southern Grammar, who managed to take a podium in almost every event.

A big congratulations to all the students who participated in the Country Schools Tennis Classic Finals, and those who walked away with a piece of silverware. The day was played in the true sense of the ‘Good Sport’ message, with all students holding themselves tremendously well and showed maturity beyond their ages.
Tennis West would like to thank SunSmart for their sponsorship of the Country Schools Tennis Classic, and the D’Arcy Slater Foundation for their financial support in making country tennis a reality for regional schools. We would also like to thank School Sport WA as well as Jeff Nolan and the volunteers at Nollamara Tennis Club for coordinating and hosting the event respectively.
