On Sunday 22nd March, the Community Tennis team attended the Claisebrook Carnivale & Duck Derby to promote the SunSmart message and encourage kids and adults alike to have a go at tennis.
The annual event, organised by the Rotary Club of Heirisson, was held at Victoria Gardens in East Perth and featured a variety of amusements and stalls run by local businesses. The Carnivale kicked off early and the sun was shining – luckily there was plenty of sunscreen on hand at the Tennis West marquee!
Besides reminding attendees to slip, slop, slap, seek and slide, Tennis West set up some mini tennis courts on the grass so both tennis novices and seasoned players could have a hit. The Hit The Target inflatable was also a popular attraction with the thousands of people who attended the Carnivale.
A fun day was had by all, with many youngsters experiencing tennis for the first time and lots of parents asking, “Where can my child play tennis?”
Tennis West would like to thank the Rotary Club of Heirisson for allowing us to attend and spread the SunSmart message at the event, and Healthway for their ongoing support.
