Over 60 club members from metro and regional WA attended the Tennis West Club Conference, held on Thursday 2 July at the State Tennis Centre.
Paul Cammack and Steve Marquis from Tennis Australia led the forum, which largely focused on developing positive Club-Council relationships, and adapting to change. This led to lots of discussion amongst the clubs, enabling many of the attendees to share their stories and learn from other club’s experiences.
Onslow Park Tennis Club and Alexander Park Tennis Club also presented on their experiences with Local Council, and how they have both undergone a change not only in facilities, but also in mindset, to ensure that the club is a welcoming, engaging environment with flexible membership options for their club members and the local community.
All Forum presentations, including the club presentations, are available here.
A PDF version of the presentation is available here.
Because of the amount of discussion generated amongst the clubs (great to see!), we ran out of time for the ‘Hot Topics’ section of the evening. The intended topics were Club Sponsorship and Social Media. Tennis West have produced some resources for clubs who are interested in these areas:
Attracting, Retaining & Engaging Sponsors
Facebook – Getting the most out of your social media page.
Thank you to everyone who attended and presented at the forum. We are thrilled with the amount of discussion generated at the Forum, and hope this may be the first stepping stone towards developing a relationship with your local council and adapting to the changing club environment.
