Aussie teen Destanee Aiava (AUS) has taken out her maiden Women’s Pro Tour Title today, winning the Perth Tennis International #2. The young gun stormed to victory 6-1, 6-1 against fourth seed Viktoria Kuzmova (SVK) in just 57 minutes.
Today’s victory will see the sixteen year old take home valuable world ranking points and a share of US$25K in prize money.
This caps off a dream start to 2017 for Aiava, who not only secured a wildcard into the Australian Open, she also became the first player born in the 2000s to win a WTA main draw match, after upsetting Betthanie Mattek-Sands in three sets at the Brisbane International.
Aiava will continue her Pro Tour journey as she makes her way to South Australia for the Clare Valley Tennis International.
The Perth Tennis International is part of the Australian Pro Tour, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior events and the ATP/WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points and a share of US$25K in prize money.
