Alicia Molik and Brydan Klein will add some star power to this Saturday’s State League Final line-up with the pair taking to the courts in a bid to win the coveted State League Shields and a share of $16K in prize money.

Former World Number 8, and current Fed Cup Captain, Alicia Molik will headline for Cottesloe Tennis Club in the Women’s State League Final as they take on reigning champions Blue Gum Park Tennis Club on their home soil.

The match promises to be a great tussle between the two powerhouse clubs, with Blue Gum Park going into the match with a lot of confidence, having finished top of the table with 12 wins from 14 matches, and earning a home Final. The club, under the direction of stalwart Captain Sheridan Currie, is also determined to make it three-in-a-row after taking home the silverware for the last two years.  Cottesloe, however are certainly a force to be reckoned with, having won 5 of their last 7 matches, and boasting a squad of talented up-and-coming juniors including Lauren Nikoloski and Ruby Culley.

The Women’s Final between Blue Gum Park TC and Cottesloe TC will take place at Blue Gum Park Tennis Club from 12.30pm, beginning with singles matches.

In the Men’s Final, Mosman Park TC will be looking to take home their maiden State League shield when they take on Hensman Park TC this weekend. Hensman will enjoy a home Final after finishing 2nd on the ladder and posting a convincing win against reigning champions, Cottesloe TC in the Semi-Final last weekend.  Hensman are no stranger to State League glory, winning 6 titles in the last 12 years. However Mosman Park have certainly brought the star power this season, with a team line-up featuring the likes of Matt Ebden, Brydan Klein, Gavin Van Peperzeel and 2017 Australian Open Doubles Champion, John Peers.

Klein, who is currently ranked World No. 191 in doubles, is expected to grace the courts for Mosman Park this weekend after securing a much needed win for his team last Saturday against Jake Robinson from Royal Kings Park TC 6-4, 7-6. Klein is a former junior Australian Open Champion and currently plays for Great Britain on the Pro Circuit.

Klein’s likely opponent will be Hensman’s Captain and number one player, Zach Itzstein who is enjoying some good form after last week dismantling Cottesloe number one player, Andrew Roberts in straight sets. Itzstein’s teammates, Rhys Johnson and Marco Comuzzo also had straight set wins in the Semi Final against Cottesloe’s Pleydell brothers.

The Men’s State League Final, between Hensman Park TC and Mosman Park TC, will be hosted by Hensman Park Tennis Club from 12.30pm.
