In line with National Volunteers Week, Tennis West wanted to take the opportunity to recognize the importance of volunteers in our sport by hosting the 2017 Volunteers Cocktail Function on Friday 5 May at the Old Pickle Factory.
Without volunteers, our clubs, competitions, tournaments and events simply wouldn’t exist. So this event was our chance to thank our dedicated, passionate, hardworking volunteers for the considerable time and energy they devote to tennis in WA.
A record number attended Friday’s celebrations with 270 guests, including 170 volunteers from 42 different clubs, 85 MVP players and partners, 7 Tennis West Board Members, 2 Tennis West Life Members and representatives from two of our biggest sponsors – the Department of Sport and Recreation and the D’Arcy Slater Foundation
Guests were treated to a incredible grazing station courtesy of European Foods & the Travelling Jaspers, canapes supplied by our friends at Showcase Catering, and of course the famous Donut Wall!
Entertainment was provided by the fabulous James Wilson, and each guest was given a small take home gift as a token of our appreciation.
All of our Tennis West Summer League MVP’s were presented with their trophies at this event, and MC Peter Vlahos spoke on-stage with our 2016 Volunteer of the Year, Laurie Apps from Fremantle Tennis Club, who was also a finalist at last year’s Newcombe Medal.
Marshall Hestelow, from Corinthian Park TC, who has volunteered in tennis for over 42 years, was the lucky door prize recipient, taking home a Corporate Box for 6 people at Hopman Cup 2018. Congratulations Marshall!
Tennis West would like to thank everyone for their attendance at this event and for their overall commitment to tennis in WA.
