The Pros: The Forgotten Heroes of Tennis is a new book on the Pro Era of tennis. Strange for modern tennis lovers, for most of the 20tth Century professional players were banned from the major tournaments and forced to become a sort of travelling circus.

WA Tennis Club Members are warmly invited to a book launch for The Pros: The Forgotten Heroes of Tennis
The book was written by Peter Underwood, who will provide a brief presentation, and sign copies of the book at  the launch
  • Venue: The Old Pavillion, Royal Kings Park TC
  • Date: Saturday, 9 September 2017
  • Time: 5.45 – 7pm. Light refreshments provided.
  • RSVP: [email protected] / 9337 8441.

Telling the story through the great champions from Bill Tilden in 1930 to Gonzales, Rosewall and Laver in 1968 when tennis became ‘open’, Peter Underwood explains how these great champions were forged in the trenches of the pro circuit.

The Pros is a significant work about a forgotten but seminal era of tennis, and of the brave men who, against the odds and entrenched prejudice, fought to become supreme masters of the game.

‘A great book’ and ‘Peter Underwood is a great writer’ says former US Davis Cup Captain Donald Dell, ‘Enthralling’ says both Booktopia and our own Rob Casey.

Obtain the book online from the Book Depository, or contact Peter Underwood at [email protected] or ph 9337 8441.

Price $55.
