Tennis West, with the support of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), offered nine athletes the opportunity to participate in the Regional Talent Development (RTD) Program that took place in Darwin, NT from 28 June – 9 July 2018.
The objectives of this program are to develop regional players and provide greater opportunities for creating long term player development.
The nine recipients of the RTD subsidised Interstate Tour included;
- Central Districts: Rebekah Aynsley
- Lower Great Southern: Brock Dawson, Ulrich Kriek
- Midwest: Joshua Carter
- South Coast: Benjamin Haclin
- South West: Tessa Kongras, Maddison Lord, Brooke Nield, Hannah Nichols
Athletes participated in two AR Tournament; 2018 NT Junior Championships (Gold) and 2018 Darwin Junior Titles (Gold), and competed in two single events and doubles.
All of the athletes on the tour showed great maturity and sportsmanship on court, with Tessa and Benjamin winning their qualification consolation finals along with Brock and Josh reaching the semi-finals of the 14/U doubles.
