SUPER 10’S
The first season of Super 10s finished over the weekend (August 11). The Challenge Day took place in June with over 75 players attending the event. From the Challenge Day 32 players (16 Boys and 16 Girls) were selected to form teams in the main event. Talent Manager Damien Ward conducted a Super Bs competition for all of the players who missed out on being selected for the final positions. 44 players ended up signing up for this additional competition which ended up being a very successful experience for those players.
The goal for this season of Super 10s was to have an educational opportunity for parents of the kids on a weekly basis. We had 4 lectures/presentations for the parents including a wonderful talk by Alicia Molik which was attended by not only the parents but the players too. The final presentation was prior to the last round of tennis where Damien presented on the Tennis Pathway.
The Super 10s and the Super Bs participated in 4 rounds of competitive matchplay. We had 8 of the most well respected coaches in WA provide on court assistance for the kids in their teams. The second season will commence in October this year with an expected record number of entries.
The season was filled with tennis, fun, presentations for the parents and guest speakers. The top 4 WA boys and girls will be selected to attend the National Super 10’s Finals in Melbourne during the 2019 Australian Open.
