Tennis West have just announced a new partnership with Imagine Cruising, who have signed on as the major sponsor of the prestigious WA Junior Open, which will be held at the State Tennis Centre from 3-7 October.
The WA Junior Open has a rich history, and has proven to be a major stepping stone for some of the state’s best players, with past champions including current professionals Matthew Ebden, Brydan Klein, Maddison Inglis and Tristan Schoolkate.
Matthew Ebden, ranked 54 in the world, is currently awaiting his first round match at the US Open, and is some of the best form of his career, rising to his highest ranking in four years after claiming an ATP Challenger title in South Korea in May. Ebden also made it through to the third round of Wimbledon earlier this year, taking out world number 9 David Goffin on his way. Ebden was the 18/U Champion at the WA Junior Open in 2002.
Likewise, 17 year old Tristan Schoolkate, who has previously taken out both the 12s and 14s event at the WA Junior Open, has just claimed the singles and doubles event of the 2018 NSW Junior Winter International. Schoolkate is currently ranked 57 in Australia and is the number 1 ranked junior tennis player in Western Australia. Earlier this year, he took out the Gallipoli Youth Cup ITF Event and received a wildcard entry into the Australian Open Junior Championship alongside fellow West Australian, Will Hann.
National Academy Manager, Tom George is delighted with the new partnership with Imagine Cruising.
“The WA Junior Open is one of the most prestigious events on the tournament calendar and sees the top juniors in Western Australia battle it out to become State Champions. The Open provides our top juniors with wonderful match play experience with a number of high quality matches throughout the event.”
“This type of event would not be possible without the incredible support of our new major sponsor, Imagine Cruising. We are grateful for their generous support and look forward to a long and successful partnership with them” George said.
Imagine Cruising Australia Managing Director, Elle Hudson is proud to be affiliated with this prominent WA tournament.
“Imagine Cruising are very proud to be sponsoring such a prestigious tournament for junior tennis players in Western Australia in line with the launch of Imagine Cruising in Perth (previously known as Cruiseplanet)”. Hudson said.
