Astra Sharma’s golden summer continued today with a quarterfinal win in the mixed doubles with partner John Patrick Smith 6-2, 7-6(5) against highly credentialed pair Bethany Mattek-Sands of the US and Britain’s Jamie Murray.
Sharma and Smith will now play the second seeds of Nicole Melichar and Brazilian Bruno Soares.
Early in the day John Peers and partner Henri Kotinen upset the third seeds Murray and Soares 6-3, 6-4. The pair now advances to play Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa in the semi-final.
