The Quarter Finals of the Perth Tennis International Pro Tour were played in perfect conditions today at the State Tennis Centre.

 

Olivia Gadeckie (QLD) continued her success with a 6-2, 6-4 win over fellow Aussie Annerly Poulos (ACT), whilst second seed Jennifer Elie (USA) capitalised on her experience to defeat Anastasia Berezov  6-4, 6-1.

 

Having lost only 1 game on the way to the quarter finals,fourth seed Lulu Sun (SUI), relinquished 2 games  to NSW youngster Taylah Lawless, to take the match 6-1, 6-1.

 

The most competitive match was between third seed Haruna Arakawa (JPN) and South Australian young gun, Amber Marshall. Marshall lost the first set 4-6, then found her feet and took the second 6-2. The momentum continued the way of the Japanese player, who went up 3-0 in the third. However, Amber, showed no signs of giving up, and drove the ball into the corners to grab the next 6 games, and the match.

 

The Doubles Final tomorrow will feature the Japanese pair, Haine Ogata and Aiko Yoshitomi against the strong USA/FRA combination, Jennifer Elie and Irina Ramialison.

 

Tomorrow’s order of play features the Women’s Singles Main Draw Semi Finals starting at 11am (AWST), followed by the Doubles Final. The Order of Play is below:

  • Olivia GADECKI (AUS) v Lulu SUN (SUI) [4]
  • Amber MARSHALL (AUS) v Jennifer ELIE (USA) [2]

After rest       

  • Jennifer ELIE (USA) / Irina RAMIALISON (FRA) [4] v Haine OGATA (JPN) [3] / Aiko YOSHITOMI (JPN)

Appearing on the Australian Pro Tour schedule, the Perth event provides players with the opportunity to earn world ranking points whilst vying for a share in the US$15,000 of prize money. In addition, the Perth Tennis International brings some of the world’s biggest rankings movers together, for a glimpse into the world of professional tennis.

 

Adding to the local female tennis talent, the State Tennis Centre will also play host to the Women’s State League Showcase on Saturday 23 February, which will run alongside the Pro Tour Doubles Final and Singles Semi Final. Local WA State League Teams, Hensman Park v North Beach and City Beach v Cottesloe will feature on the day.
