14 May 2020 | Tennis West

Under the State Government’s COVID-19 WA Road Map, from 18 May, Phase 2 conditions will be applied to WA Communities, which will allow for further relaxation of Community Tennis Guidelines, and the introduction of intraclub (internal) competitions.

Click Here for the updated Community Tennis Guidelines for Continued Play (v7). A summary of key updates and information is below:

  • Removal of the previous recommendation to utilize every second court. Adjacent courts can now be used, provided social distancing requirements are adhered to
  • Recommend Private & Group Coaching of 4 participants (+1 coach) per court
  • Should Coaches have more than 4 participants per court, we recommend using every second court.
  • Introduction of Intra-club (internal) competition opportunities (more information, including formats, to follow in a separate email)
  • Clubhouse, Changerooms and showers are to remain closed. Toilets remain for emergency use only and must be cleaned to meet hygiene standards.
  • Recommendation that all club attendees download the COVID-Safe App, and the club keep a record (inc. contact details) of anyone who attends any club or coaching activities.

Under the Phase 2 easing of restrictions, each business and community facility will need to prepare a COVID Safety Plan. You will need to ensure your COVID safety plan is available for inspection by authorized offices. We are also strongly recommending key staff, coaches and volunteers complete the free 30-minute online training module covering the fundamentals of infection prevention and control for COVID-19.

We would like to thank the WA Tennis Community for their ongoing support, patience and understanding as we work through this process.

Please look after yourself, your family and everyone involved with your tennis club. Your safety, and the safety of the wider community is of the upmost importance, so we trust you will adhere to the guidelines to ensure that we can stop the spread and return to normal operations as soon as possible.
