Feeling inspired to get back out on the court, then why not get back into the swing of things by trying one of the many non-traditional tennis formats on offer across WA.  With plenty of benefits to general physical and mental health and wellbeing, these fun formats are a great way to socialise and try something new.

Beach Tennis

Beach tennis suits the Australian summer perfectly, with the game played on the sand with a volleyball-like setup. Played on a smaller court, with a stringless racquet, low compression balls, no advantages in deuces and no second service, it’s a great fast paced work out with plenty of fun.

Padel Tennis

Padel tennis mixes tennis and squash, with the ball being allowed to bounce off walls of the squash like court. Played in doubles, with an underarm serve and on a half-size court, padel offers something a little different and is great non-traditional format of tennis to try. Equipment, coaching and lessons are all available at their Floreat home location at Reabold Tennis Club.

Pickle Ball

Relatively new to WA, Pickle Ball was introduced in 2017, with the game first being played in 1965. Courts are slightly shorter and narrower than a regular tennis court and played with a perforated ball and paddle. Due to the perforations in the ball and a lower net, pickle ball is a slower-played game, making it perfect for all ages and abilities. Power Pickleball are a WA owned academy that run social games, coaching, competitive matches and sanctioned tournaments in Busselton.
