Following the appointment of former Tennis West Vice President, Mr Brett Patten, as the CEO of Tennis West, the Board has convened and elected, Mr Rod Van, as the newly appointed Tennis West Vice President.
Serving as a member of the Board since 2018, Rod stood for two years from 2018 as a member elected director, with his service to the Board extended as a Board appointed director following the 2020 AGM.
An experienced business leader with a strong financial background, Rod is the Managing Director of RVan Consulting. Working across a broad range of industries delivering strategic planning advice, non-executive Director advisory services, project consultation and business mentoring, Rod’s experience spans retail, resources support industries, property development and investment and listed equity and hedge fund investments. Rod’s experience also includes more than 13 years with one of Australia’s largest private investment and property development companies, Cape Bouvard Investments. As well as serving on the Tennis West Board, Rod is also a Board member of Communicare and White Ribbon Australia, and a member of the Resources Committee at Murdoch University.
A regular tennis player, Rod is passionate about the growth and development of tennis across WA, understanding the multitude of social and physical benefits offered to the wider community. With an appreciation for grassroots tennis, Rod understands the important relationship between clubs and the sport’s governing body.
Rod holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) form Manchester Metropolitan University and is both an Associate and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Led by President Ms Jan Truscott and newly appointed Vice President Mr Rod Van, the Tennis West Board is supported by member elected Directors Mr Tony Cunningham, Dr Pam Cresswell, Mr Gwyn Dolphin, Ms Kate McNamara and Mr Colin Napier; in addition to Board appointed Director Ms Jo Quinn. Noting high-level skills, experience and expertise which spans all functions of business acumen, the group continues to strive for, and deliver on, good governance, innovation, strong government relations and the strategic development of tennis in Western Australia.
