This month housed National Volunteer Week from 16-22 May and was an opportunity to celebrate, acknowledge and thank the volunteers in our diverse tennis community. Officials are a key part of this volunteer community and we thank all officials for their commitment and hard work. Natalie Dellamarta is a local official who has worked tirelessly at a range of events, including at Premier and Signature events in WA.
Natalie is one of only three WA officials to hold the ITF Level 2 White Badge Chair Umpire certification and is a member of Tennis Australia Officiating. Natalie also lends her time and expertise to coaching officials, helping others develop, upskill and ensuring they have a positive experience during events.
Natalie recently travelled to Bendigo for the ITF Officiating Schools Program to undertake the five day certification, which included both theoretical and practical components in February and passed, earning her ITF white badge. While in Bendigo, she worked at two Pro Tour events as Assistant Referee.
Natalie also assisted in the Referee Development Program, managing the first intake of officials, attending and delivering several webinars for officials then prepared the ground work for her next trip, which included coaching officials.
Natalie worked at three different events in Brisbane, including Ashley Cooper Premier event as a coach to new officials. A highly important role, Natalie supported the development of new and existing officials in their prospective roles in tennis as Court Monitors, Court Supervisors and developing referees, helping continue their journey as confident tennis officials.
Travelling to Sydney in April, Natalie worked as a Referee and Coach at several events before heading to Canberra and then Melbourne to work the J3 Mornington Junior ITF. This month, Natalie travelled to Darwin to two Junior ITF events, worked as both a Referee and Coach.
Natalie is a very dedicated tennis official who works tirelessly, epitomises professionalism and represents WA in an outstanding manner. Natalie’s dedication to developing officials throughout Australia to help them upskill and ensuring they have a positive and enjoyable experience during events is admirable.
