Eighteen-year-old Talia Gibson from WA has won two ITF Women’s Tennis Tour Singles Titles back-to-back in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.
Talia’s back-to-back wins follows her success at the ITF W15 Rancho Santa Fe event in California earlier this year where she claimed her first ITF Singles title.
Facing fellow Australian Destanee Aiava in both finals, Talia extended her winning streak to 15 matches with consecutive ITF Women’s Tennis Tour Singles wins, chasing victory in straight sets: 7-6, 6-4 and then 6-4, 3-2 in the second final after Aiava retired.
The ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour provides entry-level and mid-level professional tournaments and provides a professional pathway between the ITF Junior World Tennis Tour and the WTA Tour. The results of ITF tournaments are incorporated into the WTA Ranking, which enables professionals to progress through to the elite levels of women’s professional tennis.
With three titles under her belt already, the future is bright for this up and coming superstar.
