Discussions around a new and exciting premier league competition for Western Australia are underway.

The update to the competition was identified through Tennis West’s strategic planning and key Tennis West internal and external stakeholders were invited to review the existing State League model.

Tennis West identified the need to create a more marketable and sustainable premier league competition with a vision to reinvigorate the competition and create an opportunity for players to showcase their talents in new and exciting ways.

Following this review, up to a dozen external stakeholders including senior players, coaches, parents, and club administrators of State League clubs were invited to consider the proposed concept model.

All attendees expressed an interest in the model and agreed to continue in the new premier league working group with further sessions scheduled in the coming weeks to develop the detailed design for the new model.

While change can be daunting, it is often necessary to keep things fresh and exciting. The proposed premier league will create an opportunity for tennis fans to enjoy tennis in a new and exciting light.

Once the Working Group has completed its model for the proposed premier league, it will be presented for endorsement by the Tennis West Board. Post that endorsement Tennis West plans to engage the wider tennis community, including all current State League clubs and Tennis clubs that are not represented in State League by the end of May 2023.
