The Men’s State League semi-finals served up some enthralling contests with the top two sides, Cottesloe and Hensman Park advancing through to the final.

In the first semi-final, Cottesloe defeated UWA 3-1 to advance into the final. The home ground advantage suited Cottesloe after a loss to UWA in Round 11 on the clay courts.

After two loses in a row in Round 11 and 12, Hensman Park have found their form, winning convincingly in Round 14 against UWA to take 2nd spot.

The 2nd spot proved to be beneficial as Hensman Park secured a spot in the final with a strong win over Alexander Park at home. With the singles rubbers tied at two apiece, it would be the doubles that would determine the winner. Hensman Park won both their doubles ties taking a 4-2 victory.

It will be an intriguing matchup between the two sides. In head to heads this season, Cottesloe won both their ties including a narrow win their last fixture in Round 9, winning on sets at Cottesloe.

With the men’s final to be played at home, Cottesloe will go into the match with confidence, having gone through the season undefeated at home. Cottesloe last won the State League title in 2015-16.

Last years winners, Hensman Park are looking to go four championships in a row, a feat not achieved since 2008-09 when Hensman Park won four consecutive State League titles.

The men’s fixture will start with a pre match function from 11 am at Cottesloe Tennis Club with players, commentators and Tennis West CEO Brett Patten speaking before the men’s teams take the court.

The Men’s State League Final will be broadcast live on livesport.video with live commentary and expert analysis.
