Another season of the Metro SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic wrapped up last week with over 750 students and 28 schools from the metro region competed in the metro events over two weeks.
All Academy Plate, Slazenger Cup, Mursell Shield and Herbert Edwards metro events were held at Alexander Park Tennis Club and Mt Lawley Tennis Club.
This year, Tennis West naming rights partner in Heathway set up a SunSmart activations at both metro venues to provide an educational resource for students around the importance of being Sun Smart. The activation included SunSmart merchandise, sunscreen, wide brim hats, sunglasses, and fresh fruit.
Tennis West Schools and Pathways Officer for Metro North Marisa Gianotti said the SunSmart Schools Classic event was a great opportunity for all students to have a day of tennis with their peers and represent their school.
“We were extremely impressed not only by the high-quality tennis but also the sportsmanship, team spirit and supportiveness shown by the students both on and off the court.”
“This year we had a SunSmart activation tent where fresh fruit and merchandise was available to all students which they all loved.”
