West Australian tennis official Natalie Dellamarta recently travelled to Samoa as a referee and coach for a team’s event.
The opportunity saw Natalie run an officiating workshop and work with a group of Pacific Oceania women interested in developing as tennis officials.
The women were keen to learn about officiating tennis matches and tournaments, conducting pre-match meetings, learn new formats and install and run Tournament Planner software.
Participants were able to master calling matches to court, entering final scores, manage players and volunteers between two venues and schedule and publish match results.
Natalie admired the keen interest of the coaches, team managers, captains, and volunteers from the five Pacific countries and their desire to become tennis officials.
“Collectively our aim as tennis officials is to improve the players experience, or more precisely that we share an interest in the positive outcome for all players at tennis tournaments. Thank you to Tennis Australia for the unique opportunity and experience.” Said Natalie.
There are plenty of opportunities to become a tennis official. Tennis officials play a crucial role in our sport, and there are many ways to get involved.
