After two weeks of high-quality tennis and extreme heat, the ITF J30 Perth Junior International’s wrapped up on Sunday.

A total of 128 girls and boys competed across the two singles events including a further 90 players who entered into the qualifying draw to gain entry into both main draws.

Of the 128 singles players, 116 were from Australia with competitors also from Malaysia, China, Singapore, Indonesia and Chile.

West Australian junior talent was on display with 10 WA boys and 16 girls competing in the main singles draw of the J30 #1. In the J30 #2, 11 boys and 15 girls entered the main singles draw.

In the J30 Perth Junior International #1, WA’s Alice Stevens triumphed over fellow West Australian Tara Aleksic 6-3, 6-1 in the women’s final. The number one seed Stevens raced through to the final in form, without dropping a set while it was a tougher battle for Aleksic twice coming from a set down through the rounds to reach the final.

In the boy’s final, number one seed and West Australian Cam Burton defeated 14-year-old Victorian Ymerali Ibraimi 6-1, 6-3. Like Stevens, Burton went through the event without dropping a set.

Both winners also backed it up in their respective doubles final with Cam Burton joining up with fellow West Australian Brendan Jayaprakash defeating WA’s Marko Mrdak and Luka Vujacic 7-5, 6-3, while Alice Stevens teamed up with Ruby Ward defeating Joanne Lynn Hartono and Xiran Lan 6-1, 6-4.

In the J30 Perth Junior International #2, Ymerali Ibraimi responded from his loss in the J30 Perth #1 final to defeat WA’s Luka Vujacic 6-3, 6-1 in the boy’s singles final. This was Ibraimi’s career-best result on the ITF Tennis World Junior Tour.

In the girls singles final, Alice Stevens couldn’t go back-to-back, going down to number one seed Zi ye Zhang from China in a tight 6-4, 6-4 battle.

In the boy’s doubles, Cam Burton went back-to-back winning with new partner Connor McEvoy against Filip Fantasia and Ymerali Ibraimi 6-4, 6-1. After losing the J30 Perth #1 girls singles final, WA’s Tara Aleksic claimed the girls doubles final with partner Nicola Schoeman, defeating Xiran Lan and Zi Ye Zhang 6-4, 6-3.
