The cold, wet winter weather in Perth didn’t affect entries to the winter school holiday tennis events with entries to the three events up from 470 to 513.

The Mt Lawley Junior Hard Court Classic increased in numbers from last years event, up by 17 entries from 2023. All categories finished despite the weather, check out all results HERE

The O3K J125 STC Open and Junior Event at the State Tennis Centre had 237 entries, which was up from 220 last year. There was some high-quality tennis on show. Players in the open division included State League players and professional ITF players such as Ashwin Sharma, Brendan Jayaprakash, Tara Aleksic and Lexie Weir. It was great to see these awesome role models handing out signatures to the young juniors during the event.

Ashwin Sharma was too good for Brendan Jayaprakash in the men’s open final with Ashwin winning 6-4, 7-5. In the women’s final, Tara Aleksic defeated Lexie Weir 6-3, 7-5. See all results HERE

The school holidays finished off with the JT Premier 250 WA Junior Open at the State Tennis Centre. A total of 88 juniors played in the event, up from 79 last year. The event finished in four days, even while managing to get through some weather delays throughout the event. Not all categories saw clear winners, check out results HERE
