The Tennis West Leagues and Competitions Committee has finalised the teams who will compete in the 2024/25 Tennis West State League Competition.
Tennis West State League has undergone significant changes over the past couple of years. This is the result of the need to reestablish the footprint of this competition to play a pivotal role in the development of our high-performance players, clubs, coaches, umpires, and officials. Tennis West has identified the need to create a competitive tennis product this is going to drive the marketability and sustainability of Western Australia’s top tennis competition.
The Tennis West Men’s and Women’s State League competition will remain with six teams in each league with round one beginning Friday night October 18. The interested clubs received a nomination period open for three weeks and were asked to submit a formal application.
In the Men’s, Royal Kings Park returns to the competition after a season off, lead by Hans Bustiman and Jake Robinson who returns after a season with Peppermint Grove. Last season’s premiers Cottesloe, retain their players and bring back Max Weir, who was in the USA at College. Jayden Court returns for Peppermint Grove who will be out to go one better this season while Chris Lawrence and Archie Brown headline UWA’s lineup.
In the Women’s, Cottesloe enters the competition and brings a team with a good mix of young and old talent. Jessie Culley comes across from Peppermint Grove while Alicia Molik will bring the experience playing as the number two seed. Dalkeith retain Lauren Nikoloski and add young gun Tara Aleksic while Alexander Park retain Shanelle Iaconi and Peyton Duckett. Last season’s premiers Hensman Park will go into the season with most of the same group that saw them win convincingly in the final with Alice Stevens to lead the team along with Anja Dokic.
