West Aussies Talia Gibson and Maddison Inglis are through to the final of the Perth International ITF W75 #1 after straight sets wins against fellow Australians Lizette Cabrera and Destanee Aiava at the State Tennis Centre.

There was sensational weather and a solid crowd in attendance for both matches and the ball kids were introduced for the first time this event in preparation for the United Cup.

Top seed Talia Gibson won her match 6-1, 6-3 in one hour and nine minutes against wildcard Lizette Cabrera. Cabrera was more dominant with her serve, serving three aces and had a 1st serve percentage of 65% but couldn’t capatilise, only winning 47% of points from her 1st serve.

Gibson on the other hand won the points that mattered, winning 77% of 1st serve points and 80% from 2nd serves. More importantly, Gibson converted on break points, winning five out of eight chances while Cabrera had 10 chances to break the serve of Gibson but could only break her once.

Third seed Maddison Inglis faced a formidable opponent in her match, up against fellow Australian and second seed Destanee Aiava. The pair had played eight times previously with head-to-head tied at four wins apiece.

Inglis started strong, winning the first four games for the match, but Aiava clawed her way back to level it at 5-5. Aiava went at 83% for first serves but could only win 46% of those points while Inglis was more dominant in this area, winning 58% of her 1st serve points.

There was a total of 11 service breaks with Inglis breaking the serve of Aiava on seven occasions. The second set went the same way as Inglis stormed to an early lead. The damage was done as Inglis finished the match winning 7-5, 6-2.

The doubles final was also completed today at The State Tennis Centre where Inglis and Gibson teamed up to defeat Japanese pair Erina Hayashi and Saki Imamura 6-2 6-4.

The West Aussie pair were too strong, breaking serve on four occasions to win the match in one hour and ten minutes.

The winning pair will now turn their attention to the singles final tomorrow where the pair will become foes. Inglis and Gibson will meet for only the third time with Gibson having won both times on those occasions with the last match played back in 2023 on the Gold Coast where Gibson won 7-5 6-3.

The final is set to start at 11 AM tomorrow at the State Tennis Centre. Free entry for all spectators and the cafe will be open.
