The main draw of the Perth International ITF W75 #2 has been finalised after the final round of qualifying matches wrapped up today at the State tennis Centre.

Australians Alexandra Osborne, Elena Micic secured their place in the main draw with straight set wins while Alicia Smith and Tahlia Kokkinis couldn’t qualify after playing in the main draw of the Perth International ITF W75 #1.

After falling short in the Perth International #1, Alexandra Osborne made it through to the main draw after overcoming fellow Australian Natalie Barbir on Sunday then defeated Kiwi Monique Barry 6-2 6-1.

Elena Micic also made the main draw for the second week in a row, defeating West Aussie Alice Stevens and Natsuho Arakawa from Japan in straight sets.

There was a total of eight local West Australian players that received a spot in the qualifying draw. Sunny Youn, Karin Hiramatsu, Tara Aleksic, Jana Ruzic, Elena Manoj, Sara Nikolic, Alice Stevens and Ella Nurkic all put up a fight, but all fell short to stronger competition.

A total of 12 Australians including two from Western Australia will compete in the main draw of the Pro Tour. Spectators will have to wait until Wednesday to see locals Maddison Inglis and Talia Gibson play their round one singles matches.

Fourth seed Maddison Inglis will face qualifier Mayuka Aikawa while top seed Talia Gibson faces Naho Sato.

There is guaranteed to be a different final for the Perth International #2 as WA players Maddison Inglis and Talia Gibson are scheduled to face off in a semi-final if the pair make it through their first three rounds.

On the back of Talia Gibson’s singles win on Sunday the number one seed has now climbed to 143 in the WTA world rankings, her career best. While finalist Maddison Inglis has also climbed up the rankings, now breaking into the top 200.

Aussies Stefani Webb and Gabriella Da Silva Fick will kick off day one play with matches starting at 10 am on the three main courts followed by Alana Parnaby, Alexandra Osborne and eighth seed Melisa Ercan.

The doubles main draw also begins tomorrow, with five matches to be played, scheduled to start at 12.30 pm.

Young West Aussie local Alice Stevens will team up with fellow Australian Ashley Katz in the doubles, with their opening round match scheduled for Wednesday.

This year the total prize pool has been increased from $25,000USD to $60,000USD while also offering more WTA world ranking points.

Entry is free for all spectators, and the cafe will be open for each day of the competition of the Perth International ITF W75’s.
