Peppermint Grove v Alexander Park
Saturday, 26th October, 1 pm
This matchup will be one to keep an eye on with both sides relatively young. Peppermint Grove got off to a great start last week with a 5-1 win over Dalkeith. The team will be lead from the front with Amy FIndlay remaining in the number one spot and out to get her first singles win of the season. Findlay may come up against Alexander Park’s Jana Ruzic who went down to Cottesloe’s Jess Culley last weekend.
Cottesloe v Hensman Park
Saturday 26th October, 1 pm
This fixture will be the one worth keeping an eye on. Could Cottesloe be Hensman Park’s biggest challengers this season? Both sides started their seasons with faultless starts, both winning 6-0 against their opponents. It will be interesting to see how much the grass court affects the away side being Hensman Park. The match of the day will be between young stars Jessie Culley (Cottesloe) and Alice Stevens (Hensman Park). Both started their season with wins and may both take the number one spot and go up against each other.
Royal Kings Park v Dalkeith
Saturday 26th October, 1 pm
Both sides in round one couldn’t get the win, so this fixture becomes important. Dalkeith have added some depth to their side this season and this weekend’s match will be a real test for them. Lauren Nikoloski will lead from the front and is set to play as the number one seed. She may come up against up-and-coming star Sara Nikolic who is improving each season. Nikoloski grabbed a hard-fought win in three sets last week while Nikolic was challenged by last season’s MVP Anja Dokic.
Men’s
Mt Lawley/Sorrento v Cottesloe
Friday, 25th October, 6 pm
Cottesloe started their campaign with a convincing 6-0 win over Alexander Park on the grass courts of Cottesloe. Will Hann moves up a place for this fixture and takes the number one seeded spot after a straight sets win over Evan Manso. His opponent could be rising star Jake Dembo who is listed in the number one spot for Mt Lawley/Sorrento. This fixture could be the match of the round with both sides coming off strong wins. Mt Lawley/Sorrento have added depth to their team this season with the likes of Casey Ambler playing in the number three position after regularly playing as number one last season.
Peppermint Grove v UWA
Friday, 25th October, 6 pm
Both sides will be out to get their first win of the season. Peppermint Grove challenged Royal Kings Park last week with Tim Gray’s first match with the club proving to be a successful start with a straight sets win. Gray now comes up against his former side which will sure be one to watch.
*No number one seed player provided from both teams.
Alexander Park v Royal Kings Park
Saturday 26th October, 1 pm
This matchup is a battle of the grass courts with both teams well suited to grass court tennis. Royal Kings Park were impressive last week in their return to the State League, with the side defeating Peppermint Grove with wins coming from Hans Bustiman, Zach Itzstein and Maico Egbers. Alexander Park were challenged by a strong Cottesloe side but will feel more confident when they play their first home game of the season.
*No number one seed player provided from both teams.
